The whips and chains are the easy part. My relationship with my Dom is far more than that. It is also a love affair between two people who are Dom and sub. The picture above is a perfect representation of the Dom as her protector. She is kneeling in submission and love for her Dom.
I think a D/s relationship is more complex than most relationships. A D/s relationship requires the bearing of your soul. Not the surface stuff that is easy to share. It means cleaning out the closets. Dragging out all the stuff that is tucked back in the corners. Dragging out all the things that were tucked away for my years that we had just as soon forget about. Fear of revealing ourselves can cause us to put up walls. Walls are a defense mechanism. It may keep some of the pain away but walls also block love. My favorite thing Daddy does is when he lets me inside to the place he is afraid will scare me away. That is the same place he wants me to reveal.
Each time I think our relationship can’t grow any more. I am surprised at how much we still have to share with each other. D/s requires self examination. Sometimes this is reassuring and sometimes it is painful. The pain seems to bring the most growth. Every time we have a growing pain, it is horrible to work through. Yet, I believe each time we we walk through one of these times, we come out stronger than ever. Our love endures and binds us. The whips and chains are part of us but is not all we are.
You lose her for every second you make her feel less and less of the beauty that she is. When you make her feel that she is replaceable. She wants to feel cherished. When you make her feel that you are fleeting. She wants you to stay. When you make her feel inadequate. She wants to know that she is enough and she does not need to change for you, nor for anyone else because she is she and she is beautiful, kind and good.
You must learn her.
You must know the reason why she is silent. You must trace her weakest spots. You must write to her. You must remind her that you are there. You must know how long it takes for her to give up. You must be there to hold her when she is about to.
You must love her because many have tried and failed. And she wants to know that she is worthy to be loved, that she is worthy to be kept.
And, this is how you keep her.
It’s what I’ve felt and looked like all week.
